Your Ledger device is your gateway to secure crypto management. Before you move funds, take a moment to set up your device correctly. Proper setup ensures your assets stay protected under your full control.

What You Need Before Starting

  • Your Ledger hardware wallet (Nano S Plus, Nano X, or Stax)
  • A USB cable or Bluetooth (for supported models)
  • A computer or smartphone
  • A few quiet minutes to record your recovery phrase safely

Device Setup

Power On & Begin Setup

1. Turn on your Ledger device using the main button(s).

2. Choose "Set up as new device."

3. Select a PIN code — this protects your device from unauthorized access.

• Choose a PIN you can remember but others cannot guess.

Your 24-Word Recovery Phrase

This is the master key to your crypto.

• Write down the 24 words displayed on your device screen.

• Store them offline, in a safe location.

• Never take photos, store the phrase digitally, or share it with anyone.

Your device will ask you to confirm the words in order — do this carefully.

Ledger Live Installation

Download Ledger Live

Ledger Live is the official app you will use to:

  • • Install crypto apps
  • • Create accounts
  • • Check balances
  • • Send or receive assets
  • • Manage updates

Download only from the official Ledger site.

Connect Your Device to Ledger Live

1. Open the app and select "Get Started."

2. Pick your Ledger model.

3. Follow the on-screen security checklist to verify you own a genuine device.

4. Allow the app to recognize your hardware wallet.

Managing Your Crypto

Install Crypto Apps

Inside Ledger Live:

• Go to "My Ledger"

• Install the coin apps you need (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum)

Each coin requires its own app, but you can manage many assets on one device.

Add Your Crypto Accounts

Once a coin app is installed:

1. Tap "Accounts"

2. Select "Add account"

3. Choose the crypto type

Ledger Live will sync with your device to create the account securely.

Receive Crypto Safely

• Go to "Receive"

• Select the account

• Ledger Live will show your address

• Your device will ask you to verify and confirm the address

Only transfer funds once both match.

• Update your Ledger device and Ledger Live regularly

• Keep your recovery phrase offline

• Never share your PIN or words

• Ledger will never ask for your 24-word phrase
